Join us for a cold water dip at the beautiful South Cerney Outdoor lake in the Cotswolds. \nAre you brave enough to take the plunge? Dip\, bob\, or swim – the choice is yours. \nKick off the festive season by discovering the wellbeing benefits of winter dipping\, in a stunning crystal clear lake. \nWhether you’re a complete beginner looking to dip your toes in\, or a more experienced outdoor swimmer not quite ready to hang up your wetsuit\, the Polar Plunge is for everyone. Get your friends and family to join you and make an extraordinary memory together this winter. \nRegister now\nTickets cost £15 (no wetsuit) or £20 (with wetsuit hire) and we ask everyone who takes part to raise £75 to help our hospital do more for patients this Christmas.\n \nPlaces are now closed\n \nPlease note\, this event is only suitable for those aged 16+. DESCRIPTION:Light up the lake for the RUH\nJoin our brand new Night Glow event\, for a cold water dip in the dark. This is a truly unique and exhilarating experience\, set under the rising full moon at West Country Water Park . \n\nA unique open water experience with lifeguard support\nMeet a community of like-minded people\nDo something unforgettable for your local hospital\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn the night you’ll be supported by the water park team\, who will be on hand to guide you through the effects of cold water and to keep you safe in the lake. We’ll be there to cheer you on as you bravely climb down the steps into the chilly lake with your fellow dippers\, lighting the way with your illuminated float. \nOnce you’re back on dry land\, join us in the indoor café to warm up with a celebratory hot drink\, where hot food will also be available to purchase. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a non-competitive event and there is no time or swimming distance associated with the Night Glow. You can get in and out\, stay in for a few minutes\, or swim a short distance. The Night Glow is a beginner friendly\, accessible event for everyone. \nStart the Easter weekend with a splash and make an extraordinary memory in the name of extra extraordinary care. \nRegister now\nEntry costs £15 (16+ only). We’re asking everyone to raise £75 to help the RUH do more for our patients\, our staff\, and everyone in Bath and beyond. \nSign up today \n \n*note – this is not a challenge or swimming event. Ask our Events team at fundraising@ruhx.org.uk. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRead our frequently asked questions \n  \nExpandHide\n \n\n\nWhat will I get?\nYour registration fee includes:\n• A #TeamRUHX swimming cap\n• Free use of a lit up tow float\n• A hot drink to warm you up after your dip\n• A #TeamRUHX t-shirt\n• An invite to our fundraising group on Facebook\n• Full lifeguard support throughout the event\n• All the fundraising support you need to hit your target \nHow long do I need to stay in the water?\nThis is a non-competitive event and there is no time or swimming distance associated with the Night Glow. You can get in and out\, stay in for a few minutes\, or swim a short distance (only recommended for those with cold water experience).\nThe lifeguards may ask you to get out of the water after a certain amount of time\, depending on the water temperatures\, to keep you safe. \nWhat equipment do I need?\nTow floats and lights are mandatory for this event. Lit up tow floats will be available to borrow on the night. \nAs part of the safety rules of West Country Water Park\, you will also need to wear a brightly colour swimming cap to be visible while you enter the water. Your registration includes a branded RUHX swimming cap which will be provided on the night. \nYou can choose whether to wear a wetsuit or not depending on how brave you’re feeling\, and your level of cold water experience. If you choose not to wear a wetsuit\, you must wear a swimsuit (no nudity please!). Wetsuits are available to hire from West Country Water Park for £5 – please select the wetsuit hire option when you register. \nCan I wear fancy dress?\nFancy dress accessories (such as hats and face paints) are allowed but anything that can become waterlogged (such as items made from heavy fabrics like jumpers) could become too heavy in the water and become dangerous. The water park staff reserve the right to ask you to remove any unsuitable fancy dress before you enter the water. \nWhat support is there on the day?\nThe water park lifeguards will provide a safety briefing before you enter the water\, and will be on hand to help throughout the night\, ensuring you are safe and supported at all times. \nThe RUHX team will also be there to cheer you on – we’ll even hold your towel! \nCan my friends and family come along to watch?\nFriends and family are welcome to watch. The water park has safe viewing areas outside. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. \nPlease note that parking may be limited\, so we advise that you try and arrange to car share with spectators. \nSpectators are also able to purchase hot drinks and food from the café if they wish. \n\n\n\n\nOther information \n  \nExpandHide\n \n\n\nDo I need to register in advance?\nEntries will close a week before the event on 30 March 2023. There is limited availability so registering in advance is essential and will not be possible on the night. \nPre-book hot food\nHot food will be available to purchase on the night\, but it is recommended to purchase this in advance to avoid disappointment and to ensure dietary requirements can be catered for. \nSoup (vegan) – £4.50 or £5.00 on the night\nCurry (chicken or vegan option) – £5.50 or £6.00 on the night \nPre-book your food now \nTravel\nThe West Country Water Park is located just off the M4 in Bristol\, easily accessible by car. Free parking is available at the water park.\nThe full address is West Country Water Park\, Trench Ln\, Bradley Stoke\, Frampton Cotterell\, Bristol BS36 1RY. \nAccessibility & facilities\nThe West Country Water Park now has accessible toilets\, changing rooms and ramps to enter the building. For further information\, please email fundraising@ruhx.org.uk. \nChanging rooms are located indoors so you can get changed quickly into warm\, dry clothes after your dip. \nNew indoor toilets have been installed\, as well as a limited number of showers. Please note\, it is not recommended to have a hot shower immediately after cold water exposure. \nCompetition – win TWO tickets to Bristol AquaPark\nAre you feeling competitive? You could win TWO tickets to West Country Water Park’s inflatable AquaPark\, by becoming the top Night Glow fundraiser. \nSimply climb your way to first place on the fundraising leaderboard to win! The winner will be announced on Thursday 4 May 2023. \nThe tickets must be used by 4th May 2024 and normal terms of use for the tickets are in place:\nPlease arrive at least 30 minutes before your session. Participants must sign a waiver. No jewellery\, shoes (including wet shoes) and recording devices permitted on the park. Participants under 6 are not permitted onto the Aqua Park. Children between 6-8 must have a participating adult on the park with them at a ratio of 1-2. Participants between the ages of 9 and 15 must have an adult present for their session at a ratio of 1-12.
